Terrible Twos Tuesday

Young horses are still learning how to have a relationship with humans. It is important for us to establish a good foundation with them from the beginning.

It can be as simple as having a regular feeding and rugging routine.

Another great way is to have a good grooming session with them. Most horses enjoy a good brush as you can get all the itchy spots they can’t 😂

Having time with you that makes them feel nice without having to work creates a bond between young horses and people. They don’t just view us as hard work every time we approach them but rather that they know they will get something back from us.

My young horses, even the ones I am starting under saddle, will always come up to me in the paddock. I don’t have to spend hours chasing my horses. They want to spend time with me and there is no better feeling in the world when a horse wants to be with you!

Take this opportunity to spend some quality time with your horses and give back to them a little more than what they give to you. ❤️
